Thank you for your outstanding efforts to protect consumer access to safe, effective and affordable dietary supplements, including DHEA.
You and other supporters are making an important difference in the battle to save our supplements, delivering over 71,000 emails and letters to elected officials in recent weeks urging Congress to protect your access to DHEA. When Congress returns from its August recess on September 6, harmful legislation to take away your access to DHEA as well as positive legislation will again be considered by the House and Senate. We will continue to monitor these legislative developments and keep you apprised when your action is needed.
Currently, S. 1137, the bill that would classify DHEA as an anabolic steroid and remove it from the marketplace, has been referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary with four co-sponsors
(Learn more about S.
1137.) House legislation, H.R. 3156, would place dietary supplements under unprecedented scrutiny - subjecting long trusted dietary supplements to burdensome new regulations and in some cases oversight similar to what is required for prescription drugs. This measure has been referred to the Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and currently has three co-sponsors.
